Speaker: | David Sercombe, Head of Technical Fellows and Power Electronics, MagniX |
Bio: | David has been an integral part of magniX’s story from its inception over a decade ago in Australia. A seasoned professional, responsible for the development of the core technology in magniX’s aerospace propulsion system, David is the author of multiple patents in conventional and superconducting electrical machines, and electric propulsion for aviation. As Chief Design Engineer for the magni250/500 program he led the development of the propulsion system for the eBeaver and eCaravan, the largest all-electric commercial flights to date. In 2020, David moved to the US to take on the role of Chief Engineer – Motors, leading the development of the next generation of magniX’s motor technology, the magni350/650. He is currently serving as Head of Technical Fellows and Power Electronics leading development of the magniDrive. An engaging communicator and raconteur, David has a passion to see technology used to address humanity’s greatest challenges. He has a BEng(Hons) from the University of Southern Queensland and an MA from Booth College, Sydney. |
