Conference Update – 2022-04-15
Dear Colleagues,
We are happy to report that the IEEE ISPSD 2022 registration site is finally open. The planning of our hybrid conference has faced with many challenges. We are trying our best organize an excellent program and experience for both the virtual and in-person attendees.
At this point, we urge you to register as soon as possible to give us a better indication of attendance numbers. We also urge you to reserve your stay at the conference hotel, Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Vancouver. We must fulfill a minimum number of room-nights. Thank you for your support!
Although Canada is now in the middle of the 6th wave of COVID-19, travel restrictions and health protocols have been relaxed. Starting April 1, 2022, pre-entry tests are no longer required for fully vaccinated travellers entering Canada by land, air or water.
You must use ArriveCAN within 72 hours before your arrival to Canada. In addition, most travellers need a visa or an
Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly to, or transit through, a Canadian airport. The most up to date information on entry requirements can be found at https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid.
Together with the Marriott hotel, we will do our best to provide a safe and memorable event for all attendees. See you at ISPSD 2022!

Conference Update – 2022-03-03
Dear Colleagues,
The Omicron wave has wreaked havoc on our conference planning since the end of last year and we are grateful that the COVID situation in Canada is improving as we speak but we appreciate that many parts of the world are still in the middle of the struggle against COVID. The conflict in Ukraine has sparked another layer of uncertainty for our planning. Taking all things into consideration, we are pleased to confirm that IEEE ISPSD 2022 will go ahead as planned from May 22-25, 2022 as a hybrid conference, one day shorter than originally planned.
This year, our technical program committee has worked hard to organize another excellent series of oral and poster presentations. With the expectation that some authors will not be able to attend IEEE ISPSD 2022 in person, we will modify the format of the conference to include video-on-demand presentations as well as two extended roundtable discussion sessions with on-line authors. Exact details are still being worked, pending confirmation of authors’ attendance. Conference registration details and hotel booking information will be posted soon. Please visit the conference website often for the most up to date information.
We expect that COVID related travel restrictions to Canada will continue to be relaxed over the coming months. At the moment, fully vaccinated travellers are required to provide a negative antigen test results within a day of departure. The most up to date information on entry requirements can be found at https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid. You should also check the re-entry requirements for your home country.
Together with the Marriott hotel, we will do our best to provide a safe and comfortable event for all attendees. See you at IEEE ISPSD 2022!

Original Message from the Chair – 2021-10-25
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the ISPSD conference organizing committee, it is my great honor and pleasure to welcome you to the
34th IEEE International Symposium on Power Semiconductor Devices and ICs. ISPSD brings together the world’s
foremost experts and leading companies on power semiconductor devices and integrated circuit technology.
Since the first meeting held in Tokyo in 1988, ISPSD has become the premier international forum for technical
discussions on all aspects of power semiconductor devices and integrated circuits with an annual attendance of
about 500 engineers, scientists and students. The conference location is rotating each year among Japan, North
America, Europe and Other Areas.
In 2022 the conference is returning to North America’s beautiful city of Vancouver, BC Canada. The technical
program committee is working hard to bring you another excellent peer-reviewed program with short courses
on Sunday, plenary sessions on Monday, and oral/poster sessions through out the conference. The current worldwide
shortage of semiconductor devices and VLSI chips, especially of power devices and power ICs, has significantly
impacted the production of many products, ranging from computers, home appliances, to conventional and electric
vehicles. This makes the exchange of information and ideas at ISPSD 2022 even more important and meaningful! We
hope to see your participation through submissions of your latest research to ISPSD 2022.
At this time, ISPSD 2022 is still seeking sponsors and exhibitors to display their cutting edge technology and
products relevant to the power semiconductor community. We truly hope that we can see many of you in-person at
these exhibition booths, fingers crossed!
The 2020 and 2021 conferences had been forced to be conducted on-line due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the ramp
up in worldwide vaccination rate and easing travel restrictions, we are targeting an in-person or hybrid
(in-person/on-line) ISPSD 2022. We believe that aside from the technical presentations, face to face interaction
among colleagues in our tightly knitted community is the most fruitful cause for attending. It is still premature
to finalize the conference format due to the unexpected rage of new COVID variants. We will continue to monitor
the situation closely. Please check our website’s front page for frequent updates and COVID related information.
See you at ISPSD 2022!
